DIY PPT (Do It Yourself PowerPoint)
First PowerPoint Presentation
We'll spend a few weeks making your first PowerPoint presentation.
Step one: Download (a) Marc's PowerPoint self introduction here and (b) the "how to change a PowerPoint" handout.
If you are using the computers in C411 or C410 or the Bz/IS computer room, download the handout (PPT2007) here.
If you are using C505, the handout(PPT 2003) is here.
Change the powerpoint into yours. By the way, students sometime ask Marc how to get the manga drawing. You can do that at faceyourmanga
Second PowerPoint
Some PowerPoints are really, really bad. Here are two. Look at them. Why are they bad?
From Microsoft.
From the US Military
As you look at the pictures, notice why they are so bad.
There is an important idea called Presentation Zen which uses simple, very visual design. Here is a slideshow by Kathy Gill that explains some of the key ideas.
Here are some examples of how Marc has changed his own slides to fit the Presentation Zen ideas. Marc's Before and After (PZen) slides.
Some of my students asked about the manga illustration of myself I sometimes use. I made it for free at http://www.faceyourmanga.com/
