Language Exchange
There are people in other countries who want want to communicate with you.
Most of the people you'll meet are good people. But there are bad folks out there. Do NOT give out personal information like your address, phone number, passwords, etc.
At MyLanguageExchange.com you can make key pals (Internet pen pals) from different countries.
At Lang-8.com, native speakers will correct your sentences. In exchange, you need to help them learn Japanese. Correct their sentences. (I don't know this site but a friend who teaches students from many countries says his students find it very useful.)
This is not an internet idea. For people in Sendai, the FreeSchool (Furisuku) is a chance to do language exchange to people from other countries. And they have international parties regularly. Some of my best students love it.
